By the time I finished this article, a number of persons around the world are considering getting involved in politics and run for a certain position (either at local or national levels). In my opinion, such decisions should be welcomed, we need more people interested in the political phenomenon, but at the same time, they should take into account potential risks when deciding to run for an office.
Campaigns are real battlefields, history shows us that battles and wars are not won just with the will to do something, it rather sticks to a strategical approach, planning, and due diligence.
Any potential candidate should take his/her time to answer a few questions:
Do I know myself? Can I describe my profile?
Is my profile suited for such a position and can I manage the pressure that characterizes the life of a political actor?
Do I know the reasons for which I decided to run for a certain position?
How much money can I afford to invest in political endeavors?
Do I have some skeletons in my closet that can be used by others against me?
Knowing yourself is important when you decide to run for a certain position. Perhaps some of your qualities can be used in your favor during political campaigns and during your whole career as a political actor. First things come first, grab a piece of paper and a pencil and start writing down your qualities and your flaws. It might be useful to ask others about it, for example, your family and your inner circle. When you reach some conclusions after this research you should conclude by having 2 columns – strengths and weaknesses. Keep that list for the future. Your future consultants will surely ask you about it.
Thanks for the information
